Hello! I’m Jeremy and I send CBD products to a lab to test them for accuracy and honesty. I’ve now tested over 80 products. I provide the links to the official lab certs on each CBD review. All new products are blind tested at two independent labs in California. I pay for the CBD products and the lab tests. I do all of this just so you, my friend, can know exactly what you’re getting. I also do an extensive review of the good, the bad, and the ugly of every CBD company. All results are published, good or bad.

I use affiliate links to help pay for these free lab tests. Buttons that say “this is an affiliate link” will support me hooking you up with these free lab tests. Affiliate links do not influence my reviews or lab tests. That is my promise to you and I encourage you to comment on any review that you disagree with or feel is lacking pertinent information.

The following list is the result of thousands of hours of research and thousands of dollars of lab tests. For context, you can look at my industry report here, check out my complete guide on CBD here, or watch my free mini-course on 8 things you should know before you buy CBD here

Top 8 CBD products for pain, sleep, stress, anxiety, migraines, and more

Research shows that people are using CBD for all of the above conditions and more. However, I don’t want to get your hopes up. CBD doesn’t work for everyone. There’s not enough research to conclude a specific CBD product will work for any specific condition.

What I’ve gathered are CBD products that my lab tests have shown are accurate and honest. I’ll show you what cannabinoids are in each product so that you and your healthcare professional can determine what products may help you. Oh, and if you haven’t seen my Youtube videos, I’m extremely critical. Yes, I’m a jerk but in addition to being a jerk, my job is to find you the very best and very worst of any CBD company. My goal is to present you with all the info so that you can make your own decision. Enjoy!

8. Cheapest USDA Organic CBD

Sunsoil

My original review was critical of Sunsoil’s THC claims, especially after a customer allegedly lost his job because he didn’t understand that full-spectrum hemp may cause a failed drug test. At the time, I found the lab results provided by Sunsoil confusing and I still believe all hemp companies need to do a better job of warning people about the risk of a failed drug test.

However, Sunsoil always displayed “full-spectrum” on its label. Sunsoil also updated their lab results on their website to include clearer THC levels, which was my main complaint—Problem fixed. On to the good.

Our lab tests found that Sunsoil’s label was extremely accurate. It’s a good full-spectrum extract that’s rich in CBD, CBDa, CBC, and it has trace levels of THC and of other cannabinoids. Sunsoil has its own USDA Organic farm in Vermont, which allows them to control their hemp from seed to final product. That’s great for consistency. The product is also dirt cheap. Sunsoil came in at 5 cents per milligram of CBD for this $30 bottle, which is awesome. Dive into my lab results and full review for more details.

7. Cheap and Trusted

Garden of Life

Most CBD companies have popped up overnight and haven’t had time to gain your trust. You know, like, “I trust you with my health” kind of trust. Garden of Life has built 20 years of trust in your local supplement market. It’s a certified B corporation with a long list of awards, excellent business ratings, and tons of third-party tests from Consumerlab.com and Labdoor.com. But screw all of that, they won my CBD Examine Authenticity Award. As you know from the majority of my reviews, it’s hard to earn my trust and I’m always complaining about something. They’ve earned trust for 20 years and I still sent their products to the lab(s).

All four of our lab results found that the two products that we tested were accurate and had slightly more CBD than suggested. They also tasted great, but I wouldn’t expect them to taste bad because they are pretty much just CBD. Their 30 mg formula (900 mg total) was just $50 or 5 cents per milligram of CBD. If you want a super-duper cheap CBD, from a reliable company, that tastes great, Garden of Life is for you. If you want other rare cannabinoids and THC, move along, there’s nothing to see here.

6. Most Trusted Brand

Barlean’s

Barlean’s has the best CBD values for any household brand name. Not everyone wants to risk purchasing CBD from a new company. Heck, half the CBD companies on the market are less than a year old.

Barlean’s has a long history of satisfied customers and awards that spans over a 30-year history. It is one of the first mainstream brands to offer CBD that is certified USDA Organic. Our lab tests confirmed that its full-spectrum hemp extract is potent and full of rare cannabinoids. The price per CBD milligram is just under 6 cents, which is excellent.

Barlean’s is for someone who wants a great full-spectrum hemp extract (CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids), at an excellent price, from one of America’s most trusted supplement companies. If you don’t want THC in your CBD product, move along, nothing to see here.

5. Most Loved CBD Company

Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte’s Web leads the market in hemp-derived CBD products. Charlotte’s Web is arguably the most influential CBD company with thousands of fanatic fans. They created the official hemp strain called Charlotte’s Web, which was named after Charlotte Figi. Charlotte was the girl featured in Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s 2013 documentary that sparked the CBD movement. Hemp might not even be legal today if Charlotte’s Web didn’t fight for CBD research and legalization.

Yeah, my original review of Charlotte’s Web (see the lab tests here) was harsh because milligrams on the front of their bottle referred to “hemp extract.” Hemp extract is a misleading term and the bottles contained far fewer milligrams of CBD. I lab test products for accuracy and honesty, so I had to give them a lower score. However, this was also the company that was navigating uncharted territory and I’m would bet that they were using the term “hemp extract” to avoid the legal problems with the term “CBD.” Well, the problem fixed. They helped make CBD legal and their labels have been updated to specify CBD levels.

This is for people who want a full-spectrum extract from the strain of hemp known as Charlotte’s Web. It’s for someone who wants to pay tribute to the most loved CBD company on the market. And pay you will, their $40 full strength product is about 18 cents per milligram (update: price reduced to $30 or about 13 cents per mg). However, their largest and most potent extract ($275, 60 mg formula) is only 4.6 cents per milligram of CBD. Charlotte’s Web can be a good deal but you need to be willing to spend money on their more potent blends. If you’re looking to spend only a few bucks on a cheaper CBD product, move along, this isn’t for you.

4. Best USDA Organic CBD

RE Botanicals

RE Botanicals is the first hemp brand to receive a USDA Organic Cert and they’re certified glyphosate free. They support regenerative agriculture. RE Botanicals is a small CBD company out of Boulder, Colorado. Their founder is also the creator of Nutiva, a giant hemp superfood brand that’s well respected. Our lab tests found that they make a great full-spectrum hemp extract. Most importantly, they earned the CBD Examine Authenticity Award for honest and accurate labeling.

They’re not super cheap. The average hemp extract is 15 cents per milligram of CBD and they came in at about 11 cents for the $50 bottle of their 15 mg formula. However, they just reduced their prices and it’s now 9 cents per milligram, while their more potent extract is under 7 cents per milligram. Not bad.

This is one of my personal favorites. I love that they pushed the CBD industry into the USDA Organic classification. Their branding is nice. Plus they make a roll-on peppermint CBD oil that is wonderful.

3. Best pure CBD

Medterra

Medterra made CBD history when they landed on the shelves of CVS nationwide, which advanced CBD into mainstream retail. They only offer THC-free products and that’s exactly what our lab tests confirmed: pure CBD.

Medterra looks like a pharmaceutical grade product, which you can buy at your local CVS because it is. There’s no chance of accidentally screwing up and buying a THC product or manufacturer slipups with THC. People see this brand and won’t question it. I was a professional firefighter and couldn’t risk THC in my system. THC can add benefits to CBD products, but there’s a long list of reasons some people choose to avoid the psychoactive component of hemp and cannabis.

The price is great (which they just reduced), their reputation is excellent, they’re one of the largest CBD players in the game and my extensive search found no negative reports on Medterra. My lab tests and review found that this brand is as clean as its CBD products, squeaky clean.

2. Best CBD deal (cheap, cheap, cheap)

Lazarus Naturals

Lazarus Naturals is hands down the best deal for a full-spectrum hemp extract. Our lab tests found that it had accurate levels of CBD and contained high levels of rare cannabinoids such as CBC and CBG. It also had over 2 mg of THC per 1 mL serving, which is fantastic for pain relief. However, if you’re sensitive to THC or don’t want to risk psychoactive effects (“high”), you should choose a CBD oil with less THC.

Lazarus Naturals also gives veterans, disabled, and low-income individuals up to 60% off. I don’t know how the company can afford to offer hemp extract this cheap. The starting price for the CBD oil that we purchased was only $32 and our lab tests found that it came in at 4 cents per mg of CBD.  Out of over 60 products that we sent to the lab, Lazarus was the cheapest. Plus, it was accurate and came with high levels of other rarer cannabinoids.

Update: they’ve since reduced their price and now come in at 3 cents per milligram of CBD for the bottle we tested and 2 cents per milligram of CBD for their stronger formula. They were unbelievably cheap before and now they’re even cheaper. It’s like they’re trying to break their own world record.

1. Best CBD company

Bluebird Botanicals

Bluebird Botanicals is the best all-around CBD company by a longshot. The CBD industry went through an identity crisis a while back. Many CBD companies removed the word “CBD” from their labels to advertise and sell in marketplaces that allowed “hemp” products, but specifically banned products that mentioned “CBD” or “THC.” Bluebird Botanicals did the opposite. It pioneered CBD transparency.

Bluebird Botanicals was one of the first companies to provide third-party test results of each cannabinoid in its product. Each product has a batch number that is easy to find on its website, which also shows safety tests for pesticide, heavy metal, and microbial levels. We’ve now tested multiple Bluebird products and have found that the company is consistently accurate and reliable (see our lab tests here). While other companies have followed in Bluebird’s footsteps, our extensive investigation found that many CBD companies provide false or inaccurate test results.

Bluebird’s prices are among the best. Its full-spectrum extract is one of the most potent extracts, which includes a variety of rare cannabinoids. Its THC-free CBD is also exceptional. The company gives massive discounts to disabled, low-income, and veteran customers as well. Most importantly, Bluebird Botanicals has established itself as a company you can trust with numerous awards, certifications, and positive results from independent investigations.
