We purchased this CBD product and tested it at independent testing facilities to measure levels of CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids and compare the results to the manufacturer's claims. Here are the results. (Learn more about our review process.)
The unadulterated test results on this page come directly from these certificates of analysis from two independent labs, which we pay directly. These are two independent lab tests of one product, at one point in time. We do not guarantee that all products or labs will produce the same results. Lab results may differ based on the different methodologies of testing used by each lab or inconsistencies in the product. Added ingredients may affect lab results. Volume of creams and edibles may change due to factors such as temperature, and this may impact lab results. Learn more about our review process.
Extract Labs claims to have 18.75 mg of "full-spectrum CBD" per gram (1500mg total). Lab B found that each gram contained 19 mg of CBD, 1.3 mg of THC, 0.6 mg of CBC, and trace levels of other cannabinoids. This is a potent full-spectrum extract. It has a decent amount of THC, but not to worry, topical THC doesn't enter the bloodstream and cause problems with side effects or drug testing.
*It's common to see oral CBD doses at 5 mg, 15 mg, 25 mg, and 50 mg for consumer products. Researchers use much larger doses (25 mg to 1500 mg of CBD). CBD dosing is highly individualized and much less is known about topical CBD doses.
Extract Labs claims this is a full-spectrum CBD. Our lab tests confirmed a full-spectrum hemp extract containing CBD, THC, decent amounts of CBC and CBG, and trace levels of other cannabinoids.
The Labs found that Extract Labs contained 7% to 14% more cannabinoids than suggested by their label, which is accurate. Let's call it an A score because we always give the CBD company the benefit of the doubt with third-party lab tests. Lab results vary because of testing methodologies and added ingredients in creams can make it more challenging to get accurate results. But that's why we get two lab tests. We compared this to total cannabinoids because Extract labs claimed "1500mg full spectrum CBD" and did not specify CBD levels. Lab B found 1522 mg of CBD, which is incredibly accurate if you go by CBD amounts.
This cream is made for topical body use only and not intended for use near the face (Extract Labs makes a face cream for that).
I love this company and if you don't know why, check out my review of their 2000mg tincture. Extract Labs has a CBD Examine Authenticity Award for accurate cannabinoid levels and ethical business practices. Extract Labs is veteran-owned, they give steep discounts to people in need, and their products are outstanding. I was a little worried about this cream because some of my favorite CBD companies fall short in the topical arena. Extract Labs did not fall short. They catapulted passed my expectations.
The cost is about 6 cents per milligram of CBD. 10 cents per milligram of CBD is about average for tinctures. So, this is an excellent value for a potent topical cream with a bunch of organic ingredients. Extract Labs has some of the best packagings that I've seen for CBD products. We also know from my lab tests of their CBD oils that they are exceptionally accurate. Yeah, this is a best value for sure.
The smell is amazing. I would describe it as a naturally sweet peppermint scent. There is no hemp smell! You can smell some clean spices; maybe it's the pine or sage. However, the spices are very mild and pleasant. It's not like I could pinpoint the rosemary or lavender scents, but you can tell there are some spices here. I'm impressed, very, that the spices are so subtle and yet they mask entirely any foul odor of hemp. This is a full-spectrum CBD, which typically comes with a full-spectrum of nasty hemp smells. However, Extract Labs smells so fresh and so clean, clean. All the added ingredients are natural and organic, which makes me like the smell even more.
For those with a more refined nose, here are the organic ingredients and their smells: Shea butter (nutty), Arnica (pine-sage odor), Menthol (peppermint), Jojoba (nutty), beeswax (subtlety sweet honey), rosemary, lavender.
This muscle cream is potent, with 18 mg to 19 mg of CBD per gram, over 1 mg of THC per gram, and trace levels of other cannabinoids. This is a strong, full-spectrum hemp extract. The organic menthol and lavender are two of the most common ingredients in powerful relaxation and pain relief creams. Arnica is commonly used for arthritis and post-surgery, according to WebMD.
Extract Labs has a milky-white cream color. It's a dense paste. It looks great, it smells great, and the tin it comes in is solid. They use a patented LocTin container and their clean label fits perfectly atop. The small list of organic ingredients are on the bottom. The label states 1500 mg of "full spectrum CBD." My only complaint is that they did not state if this product contains 1500 mg of CBD or total cannabinoids.
What else can I say? The company is excellent. The cost is more than reasonable; I've seen cheaper, but this is the full package. The organic ingredients are premium. The smell is phenomenal. The strength is potent with multiple cannabinoids and I like that they went with natural pain relief ingredients, such as menthol. The cream has a great color and all of this greatness comes without pungent hemp smell. This is currently my number one CBD cream.
