It’s cheap. 3.4 cents per mg of CBD is among the most affordable CBD products on the market.
It’s got the strong earthy and pine flavor of hemp. It’s mixed in hemp seed oil. Its viscosity is ok; it’s not too thick, but it’s also not light or refreshing. It feels like a hemp seed oil in your mouth and has the residual feel of an oil. The aftertaste lingers with a slightly bitter pine flavor. It tastes average for potent full-spectrum CBD. It might be marginally better than your average hemp extract. However, this is not winning any awards for taste. If you’re not ready for the natural flavor of hemp, Irwin also makes this product in peppermint flavor.
Irwin Naturals claims 33.9 mg of CBD per mL and our labs found over 40 mg of CBD. However, their suggested serving size is “48.8 mg of CBD” from “2 one-half (1/2) droppers (1.44 mL total).” This is an odd serving size and will be extremely difficult to measure because their dropper does not show milliliter markers. Based on our lab results, we estimate that each serving (1.44 mL) will contain 61 mg of CBD and 1.44 mg of THC. It also contains 1.5 mg of CBC and trace levels of other cannabinoids. It’s an excellent full-spectrum extract.
Irwin’s serving size is potent. 61 mg of CBD is a lot and 1.44 mg of THC will add to those effects. 1.44 mg of THC will risk a failed drug test. Research shows that people who are sensitive to THC may feel measurable effects from as low as a 2 mg THC dose. However, I believe some people may feel the THC impact from Irwin’s 1.44 mg THC dose.
This is for someone who wants a full-spectrum CBD product from a reputable supplement company. Irwin naturals has been around for a long time. The price is cheap. The taste is average. Our lab tests confirmed that this is a potent full-spectrum hemp extract. It has about 26% more CBD than claimed by their label, which is less than accurate. A “C” score is not great but at least you’re getting more CBD than less.
Their odd serving size is confusing and the lack of millimeter markers on their dropper makes it extremely difficult to measure a consistent dose. Most CBD companies still don’t provide mL markers on their droppers, but that won’t stop me from complaining.
Overall, this is a good full-spectrum CBD at an excellent price point.
Other sizes available
We tested the $42.99 bottle of the 1000 mg formula. Irwin also makes a 250 mg formula for $19.99, making it almost double the cost per mg of CBD. In other words, buy the 1000 mg formula because it’s a way better deal.
