We purchased this CBD product and tested it at independent testing facilities to measure levels of CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids and compare the results to the manufacturer's claims. Here are the results. (Learn more about our review process.)
* Products tested prior to 2020 were sent to only one independent testing facility.
The unadulterated test results on this page come directly from these certificates of analysis from two independent labs, which we pay directly. These are two independent lab tests of one product, at one point in time. We do not guarantee that all products or labs will produce the same results. Lab results may differ based on the different methodologies of testing used by each lab or inconsistencies in the product. Added ingredients may affect lab results. Volume of creams and edibles may change due to factors such as temperature, and this may impact lab results. Learn more about our review process.
Lazarus Naturals claims to have 10 mg of CBD per milliliter. A milliliter is about a gram here (0.99 g). The labs found 10 to 11 mg of CBD, about 0.4 mg of THC, and trace levels of CBG (under 0.13 mg).
*It's common to see oral CBD doses at 5 mg, 15 mg, 25 mg, and 50 mg for consumer products. Researchers use much larger doses (25 mg to 1500 mg of CBD). CBD dosing is highly individualized and much less is known about topical CBD doses.
Use: Apply as needed. 1 tsp = 50mg of CBD. May take up to two hours for full effect.
The package quantity in grams is 98.616, based on a g/ml conversion factor of 0.98616 reported by Lab B.
DISCLAIMER: The lab results will not be exact. Lazarus Naturals’ claims were in milliliters. Both our independent labs reported cannabinoid levels in grams, which were converted from grams to milliliters in order to compare against the company’s claims. The results may be slightly off because measuring units in volume can change based on temperature, settling, foam, air pockets, etc. Creams with additional ingredients may also affect lab results.
Lazarus Naturals claims this is a full-spectrum CBD lotion. Our lab tests confirmed a full-spectrum hemp extract that contains CBD, THC, CBG, and possibly trace amounts of other cannabinoids.
Lab A found that Lazarus contained 9.6% more CBD, while Lab B found about 3 percent less CBD than suggested by Lazarus. Lazarus makes CBD claims in milliliters, a measure of volume, which can change slightly. Our lab testing will not be exact due to volume changes, but the lab tests suggest that Lazarus Naturals is accurate.
Lazarus Naturals is one of my favorite CBD brands because they are cheap, incredibly cheap. They also give steep discounts to veterans, disabled, and low-income folks. I did an in-depth look at the company on my review of their full-spectrum oil and recently tested their CBD isolate.
The cost is 3.5 cents per milligram of CBD. The average price for topicals is 17 cents per milligram of CBD. This CBD lotion is better than a great deal.
The scent is "unscented," and I agree. It doesn't smell like anything. I’m impressed.
This lotion provides a moderate CBD dose at about 10 mg of CBD per gram. It also has low amounts of THC (under 0.40 mg/g) and trace amounts of CBG (under 0.12 mg/g). Those additional cannabinoids may provide extra relief. It's an ok full-spectrum blend. I was expecting more CBG and also CBC because their tinctures are rich in those. However, most topicals remove some of the additional cannabinoids to reduce the smell of hemp. They completely removed the hemp smell, so this is a rather impressive blend. I found this CBD topical relaxing.
CBD dosing is highly individualized. There’s not enough topical-CBD research to suggest a dose. As usual, I don’t talk about my reaction to CBD because it can be misleading. CBD effects are based on your unique health conditions, tolerances, and endocannabinoid system. Look for products with similar cannabinoid levels when you find one that works.
It's a silky lotion with no color. Perfect. The bottle looks basic, which I don't mind because the price is right.
Here we have a decent full-spectrum topical with zero smell at an attractive price. I would highly recommend this for a CBD lotion. If you want a little more relief, I would probably go for their soothing mint balm because of its strength and pain relief ingredients.
Lazarus Naturals offers CBD tinctures, capsules, isolates, coconut oil, pet products, RSO, and topicals.
