We purchased this CBD product and tested it at independent testing facilities to measure levels of CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids and compare the results to the manufacturer's claims. Here are the results. (Learn more about our review process.)
* Products tested prior to 2020 were sent to only one independent testing facility.
The unadulterated test results on this page come directly from these certificates of analysis from two independent labs, which we pay directly. These are two independent lab tests of one product, at one point in time. We do not guarantee that all products or labs will produce the same results. Lab results may differ based on the different methodologies of testing used by each lab or inconsistencies in the product. Added ingredients may affect lab results. Volume of creams and edibles may change due to factors such as temperature, and this may impact lab results. Learn more about our review process.
Medterra claims to have about 20.75 milligrams of CBD per gram. We found that each gram contains around 22 mg of CBD.
*It's common to see oral CBD doses at 5 mg, 15 mg, 25 mg, and 50 mg for consumer products. Researchers use much larger doses (25 mg to 1500 mg of CBD). CBD dosing is highly individualized and much less is known about topical CBD doses.
Medterra claims this is a CBD cream with zero THC. Our lab tests confirmed CBD, zero THC, and no other cannabinoids.
We found that Medterra contained 8% to 10% more CBD than suggested by their label, which we consider accurate.
Directions: Apply cream to affected areas and rub in. Use as needed. Please make sure to wash hands with cool water after each use.
Medterra was one of the first CBD brands ever to go mainstream. CVS sells Medterra products nationwide. They're best known as a CBD brand that contains no THC. They also earned my CBD Examine Authenticity Award for their CBD oil tinctures.
This CBD cream comes in at 5 cents per milligram of CBD. The average CBD product is 10 cents per milligram of CBD. Medterra is an excellent deal.
The scent is off the hook. The menthol isn't overbearing and it's got a little spice to it. The arnica should have a pine and sage smell, but I wouldn't be able to tell you that. I can smell a little spice, but it's mostly just a pleasant, relaxing, sweet mint smell.
They kicked the door in with this one. I see a lot of CBD creams around 5 mg per gram or less. I like ones that are over 10 mg per gram. Medterra's 1000 mg Pain Cream comes in at a whopping 22 mg of CBD per gram. It's also got arnica and menthol, which are popular ingredients in pain relief creams. You did well, Medterra.
CBD dosing is highly individualized. There’s not enough topical-CBD research to suggest a dose. As usual, I don’t talk about my reaction to CBD because it can be misleading. CBD effects are based on your unique health conditions, tolerances, and endocannabinoid system. Look for products with similar cannabinoid levels when you find one that works.
It’s a silky cream that goes on clear. The bottle is sturdy and has a nice pump that gives consistent doses. Medterra looks like a premium skincare line. I also like that Medterra only sells THC-free products. This makes Medterra an easy recommendation for people who don't want anything to do with THC.
Medterra is a trustworthy CBD company. If you’re looking for a cream with THC and other cannabinoids, this isn’t it. Medterra specializes in THC-free products. The cost is great. It’s incredibly strong at 22 mg of CBD per gram. The peppermint smell is fantastic. The packaging is premium. Overall, this is an excellent CBD cream.
Medterra offers CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD, CBD gummies, topicals, and supplements.
