We purchased this CBD product and tested it at independent testing facilities to measure levels of CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids and compare the results to the manufacturer's claims. Here are the results. (Learn more about our review process.)
* Products tested prior to 2020 were sent to only one independent testing facility.
The unadulterated test results on this page come directly from these certificates of analysis from two independent labs, which we pay directly. These are two independent lab tests of one product, at one point in time. We do not guarantee that all products or labs will produce the same results. Lab results may differ based on the different methodologies of testing used by each lab or inconsistencies in the product. Added ingredients may affect lab results. Volume of creams and edibles may change due to factors such as temperature, and this may impact lab results. Learn more about our review process.
R + R Medicinals claims to have 5 mg of cannabinoids per 1 chew (each chew is 2.2g). We found that a 2.2g serving contains a total of 5.2 mg of cannabinoids, including 4.85 mg of CBD and 0.18 mg of THC.
*It’s common to see oral CBD products with doses for pets at 1 mg, 3 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, to over 25 mg. We recommend speaking with a veterinarian or following manufacturer directions. CBD dosing is highly individualized in humans and our pets share the same unique endocannabinoid system. The type of CBD product, the kind of pet, size of pet, conditions, the severity of conditions, and individual tolerances will dramatically change your pet's ideal CBD dose.
The average full-spectrum extract costs 10 cents per milligram of CBD. These dog chews come in at 9.3 cents per milligram of CBD, making them about an average deal.
Instructions: Serve your dog 1-2 times daily, based on their weight. (See package for dose size per weight of pet.) It may take at least 5 days of consistent use to notice effects. If your dog becomes restless, reduce serving size. Use as directed.
R + R Medicinals claims that these are full spectrum dog chews. Lab A confirmed the product is full-spectrum containing CBD, THC, and trace amounts of other cannabinoids. However, the other cannabinoid levels were so low that Lab B did not detect them, and even the amount of THC was below Lab B's LOQ (limit of quantitation). According to Lab B, this product is CBD-only.
The independent labs found this product contained 4% to 5% more cannabinoids than suggested by their label. That's an A score for accuracy, this product is very accurate.
I've tested several R + R Medicinals products and they've all tested well. I initially found their brand on Amazon and was impressed by how many happy customers they have. They're not specific about CBD levels, which I don't like. However, many large brands no longer use the word "CBD" because of ridiculous marketing and advertising rules. [update: I was originally critical of this company because they did not specify cannabinoid levels. However, they have updated their website to include exact CBD and THC levels. They are also USDA Organic certified now.]
Their CBD levels were accurate. It is full-spectrum, but the quantities of other cannabinoids are low. Lab B couldn't accurately measure the other cannabinoids. Many edibles reduce the levels of other cannabinoids to improve the taste. Your dog should find that this tastes good and shouldn't get your pet high (I obviously didn't taste these, but I did try their human gummies and they're excellent). Under 10 cents per milligram is a good deal for CBD treats.
The dog chews are accurate, from a consistent company, and the price is right. I give them a thumbs up.
