We purchased this CBD product and tested it at independent testing facilities to measure levels of CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids and compare the results to the manufacturer's claims. Here are the results. (Learn more about our review process.)
* Products tested prior to 2020 were sent to only one independent testing facility.
The unadulterated test results on this page come directly from these certificates of analysis from two independent labs, which we pay directly. These are two independent lab tests of one product, at one point in time. We do not guarantee that all products or labs will produce the same results. Lab results may differ based on the different methodologies of testing used by each lab or inconsistencies in the product. Added ingredients may affect lab results. Volume of creams and edibles may change due to factors such as temperature, and this may impact lab results. Learn more about our review process.
RE Botanicals claims to have 10 mg of CBD per 1 mL dropper. We found that 1 mL contains over 15 mg of CBD, up to 0.5 mg of THC, about 0.2 mg of CBG.
Manufacturer Instructions: Consult your veterinarian, but we recommend starting with the following 1-2 times daily:
RE Botanicals claims this is a full-spectrum hemp extract containing CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids. Our lab tests confirmed a full-spectrum hemp extract that contains CBD, THC, CBG, and possibly trace levels of additional cannabinoids.
The independent labs found that RE Botanicals contained 56% to 58% more CBD than their label suggested. Both labs gave this product an F rating.
RE Botanicals was the first USDA Organic certified CBD brand. They’re a well-respected CBD brand. I lab tested their classic tincture and their Relief Body Oil in the past. I loved everything about this brand. Unfortunately, the independent labs don’t care what I love and will ruin my day with some truth bombs.
This pet tincture lists for $30 with 300 milligrams of CBD, which is 10 cents per milligram of CBD. Average human full-spectrum extracts are 10 cents per milligram of CBD. So this is average. Our lab results showed that this pet product was 6.4 cents per milligram because the lab found so much more CBD than advertised. The rest of my lab tests on this brand were reasonably accurate and I wouldn't expect to get more every time.
The flavor is natural. It's just MCT oil and hemp extract. This oil tastes good for a full-spectrum extract. It has an earthy hemp taste, but it's relatively light and almost sweet. Yes, I tried it. A dog might tolerate it or you may need to mix it with something your pet finds tasty.
RE Botanicals claims this is 10 mg of CBD per milliliter dropper, but we found over 15 mg of CBD per milliliter. The labs also found up to half a milligram of THC and about 0.20 mg of CBG, which may add to CBD's effects. Half a milligram of THC per milliliter is not a huge amount, but you will want to start with lower doses and see how your pet reacts. RE Botanicals only recommends half a dropper for dogs over 50 pounds and less for smaller pets. Unfortunately, our lab results are so far off from what RE Botanicals claims that it's impossible to predict the strength and dose that your bottle will contain.
*It’s common to see oral CBD products with doses for pets at 1 mg, 3 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, to over 25 mg. We recommend speaking with a veterinarian or following manufacturer directions. CBD dosing is highly individualized in humans and our pets share the same unique endocannabinoid system. The type of CBD product, the kind of pet, size of pet, conditions, the severity of conditions, and individual tolerances will dramatically change your pet's ideal CBD dose.
The blue RE Botanicals bottle looks clean with its small USDA Organic stamp on the front. The 1 mL dropper is labeled to measure lower doses, which is nice. The liquid is a natural golden brown. Looks are not the issue here.
I love the brand and the other CBD products I tested. RE Botanicals was on my top CBD oils list. It’s the first USDA Organic certified. They’re glyphosate free and donate to regenerative agriculture. I like this tincture for pets too, but my labs didn't. It received an F score from two independent labs that used blind testing and digital documentation, which we triple checked. I can't recommend any CBD product that is up to 58% inaccurately labeled. Hopefully, this was one bad batch and they fixed the issue. The rest of their products were accurate.
RE Botanicals offers CBD tinctures, relief body oil, capsules, and pet products.
