The unadulterated test results on this page come directly from these certificates of analysis from two independent labs, which we pay directly. These are two independent lab tests of one product, at one point in time. We do not guarantee that all products or labs will produce the same results. Lab results may differ based on the different methodologies of testing used by each lab or inconsistencies in the product. Added ingredients may affect lab results. Volume of creams and edibles may change due to factors such as temperature, and this may impact lab results. Learn more about our review process.

About the product

Disclaimer: I tested two separate products at two different labs. Although they were from the same batch, lab results may differ from inconsistencies in the products. I usually test one product at two labs, but I needed to purchase two products because these were small bottles and each lab required an entire bottle for accurate testing.

RE Botanicals claims this is a full-spectrum hemp extract. Our lab tests confirmed a full-spectrum hemp extract containing CBD, THC, CBG, and trace levels of other cannabinoids.

The labs found that RE Botanicals contained 3% to 9% more CBD than suggested by their label, which is exceptionally accurate.

RE Botanicals claims to have 50 mg of CBD per milliliter. We found that each milliliter contains about 50 mg of CBD, 2 mg of THC, 1.2 mg of CBG, and trace levels of other cannabinoids.

*It’s common to see oral CBD doses at 5 mg, 15 mg, 25 mg, and 50 mg for consumer products. Researchers use much larger doses (25 mg to 1500 mg of CBD). CBD dosing is highly individualized and much less is known about topical CBD doses.

Jeremy’s Take

RE Botanicals was the first USDA Organic certified CBD brand. Their founder was also the founder of Nutiva, a well-respected hemp superfood brand. I tested their classic tincture in the past and had nothing but good things to say.

Cost:

At under 7 cents per milligram of CBD, this USDA Organic topical is a fantastic deal. The average topical is 17 cents per milligram of CBD.

Scent:

The scent is lavender and there is no hemp smell. I was expecting a pungent odor because this is a potent full-spectrum extract. Nope. The founder had 20 years of experience in perfecting hemp foods, and I guess it paid off. This oil smells fantastic. I also tried their peppermint scent and I loved that one too.

Strength:

Over 50 mg of CBD per mL is potent. Plus, it has about 2 mg of THC. It also has over 1.2 mg of CBG, which is impressive. Most CBD topicals have around 5 mg of CBD per mL. I like larger doses and I like what they’ve done here. Lavender is also a proven essential oil for relaxation and has the research to back it up. The peppermint (renew) option was also relaxing. These are powerful combinations of natural relief.

CBD dosing is highly individualized. There’s not enough topical-CBD research to suggest a dose. As usual, I don’t talk about my reaction to CBD because it can be misleading. CBD effects are based on your unique health conditions, tolerances, and endocannabinoid system. Look for products with similar cannabinoid levels when you find one that works.

Look:

The oil itself has a yellow tint, but it goes on clear. It also has a light viscosity and does not have an oily feel. I don’t think it gets better than this for an organic hemp topical. The bottle has a premium metal-ball roller and it makes a difference. Why? It feels nice and cool–soothing. Your hands don’t get oil all over them like most creams. This roll-on is exceptionally convenient. The rest of the packing and branding is also of high quality.

Overall:

You guys know me. I find something wrong with almost every CBD product that I review, especially topicals. RE Botanicals is respected as the first USDA Organic CBD brand. This oil is a powerful combination of lavender and cannabinoids. Just look at the lab results and compare to other topicals. I love the cool feel of the metal roller. The peppermint option was as good as the lavender scent and that’s saying a lot. This topical is one of my absolute favorite CBD products.
